Welcome to the 2019 PSPL Coaches Education Symposium!
We are proud to present Surf San Diego's Senior Coaching Director & Vice President Josh Henderston to headline this year's coaching event at Starfire Sports in Tukwila. Josh will be the keynote speaker on Friday, May 31 @ 7:30 pm at Starfire Sports.
On May 1, Josh will run two coaching education sessions for club officials, coaching directors and interested coaches that will based on Surf's new and amazing club soccer curriculum.
Josh's lecture topic: the "State of Youth Soccer in America and How San Diego Surf continues to lead during major upheaval."
As one of the biggest youth soccer clubs in the nation, Josh is well-positioned to discuss events happening at the national level - the DA v ECNL - as well as the state and local levels. He will touch on the larger trends such as where competitive soccer is heading and explain Surf's "player-centered" development model. It promises to be an informative and provocative conversation that will offer unique insights into the national youth scene that often appears so remote and inscrutable to Washington state clubs.

The oldest competitive youth soccer club in San Diego, San Diego Surf Soccer Club was established in 1977 to draw the best players from the surrounding areas of Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Leucadia, Solana Beach and Del Mar to form teams to compete against the best teams in southern California. Surf Soccer Club’s overall competitive vision and organizational focus has remained largely unchanged, as 30+ years later the Club continues to field teams who compete at the highest levels locally, regionally and nationally.

At every age group, Surf Soccer Club teams are playing at the highest levels against the toughest competition, in the most competitive leagues.
100% of the girls on our first team, and close to 100% of the girls on our second team at U18 received scholarships to play soccer in college in 2017. The intensive training received at Surf Soccer Club, as well as a commitment to the development of the player sets up the conditions to succeed at the highest level. Exposure to hundreds of college coaches at Surf Cup and College Cup gives Surf Soccer Club players the best chance to find a scholarship pathway to college.
